Bandai, ah this company is filled with good folks. I checked the mail today only to discover a copy of the first DVD of Geneshaft sitting there. This thing doesn't get released until May 20th so I'm feeling spoiled by them.
So far this seems to be a pretty spiffy little title. I've only checked out the first episode so far, but so far I am pretty derend intriqued with the sci-fi setting and the mysterious goings on that have been introduced. Once I've gone through the full disk I'll wander back and give a full review.

I have seen Geneshaft in its entirety and believe me, it's not worth it.
Yeah, I agree, the 1st episode kicks, but there is almost literally no plot progress beyond that point. The show is slow, repetitive and the action scenes are very few and poor. The only other good episode is (no spoilers, honest) 13, the last one, when all the promise shown by ep 1 is *finally* brought to light. A real shame as Geneshaft looked like it could have real potential, but the idea was bungled in my opinion.

I don't know, I am hoping that Bandai will send me the rest of this series, but even if they don't I think I'll pick it up just to see where it goes.
So far I like most of the characters though they are pretty standardized in terms of the make up of personalities, though in many ways I am reminded of Gunbuster when I watch this show.
The encorporation of the "giants" and a lost planet was obviously drawn from Zecharia Sitchin, and I kinda got a kick out that.
The DVD has a pretty fun little glossary section that goes over all of the program names (most of which are named after Italian Soccer terms
), as well discussions about the culture and science behind Geneshaft.
Personally, and this is only based on the first 4 episodes of the series, I think this is a title worth looking into.
