The manga was first in this case. In fact, there is a whole second "season" in the manga, that is rumored to be in production as a new season for the anime.El Banana wrote:If hellsing wasn't a manga, it is now... and I saw the manga first

For the most part I prefer anime. It's a lot easier to do action scenes and such in anime, because it's a lot easier to represent it (and be able to figure out what's happening) with a series of moving pictures instead of still images. However. There are cases where I prefer the manga. Cases such as Angel Sanctuary. The anime only covers roughly 3 volumes of the 21 volume manga. If you want the rest of the story, it's manga or nothing, so in this case, I far and away prefer the manga.

And good Christ, let's hope so. The last part of the Hellsing anime was pretty lame, because it was Gonzo pulling ideas out of their rear ends. We need a second season of Hellsing to clear up all the loose ends left strewn about by the first season.Dannywilson wrote:The manga was first in this case. I think it matters. Sometimes the anime is better, sometimes the manga is better. Some examples!
Anime > Manga
I find that the Utena anime transcends its original manga SO much. It IS based on the original story by Chiho Saito, but they added in so much more depth, plot, and gorgeous visuals that it just makes it a more enjoyable experiance.
Cowboy Bebop is another anime that blows away it's manga counterpart. Cowboy Bebop certainly wouldn't be Cowboy Bebop without that fantastic Yoko Kanno music, now would it? :Þ Also, again, there's much more to it.
Manga > Anime
Okie doo, GTO is a MUCH better manga than anime. I find the anime simply disgusting and not keeping the original humor of the books.
Akira is so much MORE in book version than in film! I mean, yes the film is totally awesome with mind-blowing visuals, but who KNEW there was so much more story?? AND the art is fantastic. (Horray for Katsuhiro Otomo and his lust for industrial details!)
Violinist of Hameln was BUTCHERED by it's TV series. BLEH! They turned it into this minimum animation, minimum story, minimum character depth piece of crap that was nothing compared to the manga! ARG!
BUT, these are simply my opinions, just as flawed as anyone else's. 8)

The Magnificent Seven [Britt has just shot a fleeing bandit off his horse.]
Chico: That was the greatest shot I've ever seen.
Britt: The worst! I was aiming at the horse.

I hate being like everyone else and saying it depends. So, let me start by saying... nevermind.
It also depends on who carries the manga into anime. If the original creator of the manga has his hand in the production of the anime, you can usually bet the anime will stay pretty true to the manga and actually be decent. Chobits. I heard that CLAMPS, or at least one of the members, helped to create the anime. Therefore the anime is nearly as good as the manga, nearly. Love Hina on the other hand is aweful. I can actually look at a picture of a LH character and tell you whether it's from the anime or from the manga. The style was that different. Then, as also mentioned, some manga comes after the anime. The Evangelion manga is being written by the lead animator and character designer from the series. It's Evangelion being retold from his perspective. So it is quite different.

I really liked love hina but the mangas where much better. But the anime did follow the time line well and the story was not to far off. I also liked the real bout high mangas over the anime, but I did enjoy the anime and seeing the fight sceens in action was excellently animated.AKH257 wrote:anime is good cause u dont have to read. but the love hina manga was beter than the anime
