Vegas 9 Help...

Post by uchihaclan13 » Fri Jan 16, 2009 5:15 pm

I found out that one of Vegas 9's changes was that it doesn't have the "velocity" option anymore in it's right click on the timeline (the option where you're able to adjust the speed at certain points on a clip, even freezing it.) Is there an alternate way of doing what velocity used to do now that it's gone? I need to slow down and freeze time in certain clips.

I don't think movie studio has velocity. Only the pro versions.
Adobe Premiere Elements has easy to work velocity and it only costs $89.99

Well don't know if Vegas 9 has this option but try looking for a picture of a Floppy Disk on top of your preview screen, that should take a picture a scene of your choice and will be transferred right to your project media window right after but yeah this only helps if you want to freeze the picture of your video and as for velocity i suggest you go with the advice vax gave you

Well there is also an alternative way of slowing down clips, like this.

And if you want to freeze a certain clip i would recommend you copy&paste a frame, much better than taking a picture imho (it keeps the quality).

That process is not exactly as the same as velocity though...it slows down the clip, yeah but what if you need to make it seem like it's at a normal speed then make it transition to a no movement at all?

Of the off-chance that they only took it out of the context menu, try this:
Click on the clip for which you want to change the velocity. Then go to the Insert Menu > Video Envelopes > Event Velocity. It's there in Vegas Pro 8, so maybe it's there in Movie Studio as well?
... yea ...

That's the unfortunate part, all they got is Composite level and Fade to Color.

By no movement,do you mean a still? If so you can just take a screenie and place it after the normal-speed clip.
