Vegas coppying odd frames from other tracks.

Hello I've been having a problem with Vegas and one of my freinds reffered me to this site.

Sooo, In vegas everynow and then, when I place a clip on a track, some of the frames from the other track will be coppied onto a different track, these frames have no effects applied to them, and the result is a split second flash that is realy messing up my movies (yes I know OCD) If I just delete the frames and then strech the track back over it, it will place the frames there again, delete the clip the frames are getting copied from, delete messed up frames and strech, it will be fine, but when I put the clip back in it is still messed up. I have reinstalled vegas 2 times and nothing has changed.

Do you mean that random frames from other clips actually become part of the clip you just placed there? Or are you seeing parts of clips that you have on a track below the clip that you just put in the timeline?

Do you mean that you are actually splitting and deleting part of the clip that you just added?

How many tracks are you using, and can you explain what you mean by 'coppied' and where these other frames are coming from? Are the clips that are getting mixed up on top of each other?

I might be wrong, but it looks like you're trying to use DIVX/XVID (or any other lossy codec for that matter) files in Vegas, which you shouldn't, as it may give you strange errors like those you encountered. For more info read this.

I'm not sure what codec I'm using, I honestly just hit rip and let the program go, but I'll look into that.

As far as were, the frames are comming from the other tracks dirrectly below or ontop of it, so the frames mach up in time when the error happens.

Yes I am splitting the clip and stretching it back over.

Total tracks so far, shoot it's only 10, so not that many for an average project that I do.

I'm thinking of just switching techniques over completley and using vegas for a Clipping/layout program, and doing effects in After effects.

Is it actually happening in the middle of clips? Or is it toward the end/beginning of clips, like at cuts or something?

It seems to be were ever it wants.

But I found out that I'd ripped the DvD's in a H 246 or Dvx codec, which is a no no apparently.

Unfortunetly the DvD's were my freinds, he just gave me the rips -_- (in all serious honesty, I'm in the middle of Re-Ripping the DvD's that I own) So I'll just use a converter on it. What's a good format to use? What can I use to convert it to a lossless format?
