Re: Settings?
. the only thing we offer here, at this org, are years of experience in doing
what we like to do best; Rip, Edit, Encode and upload. The way in which
people learn the fastest 'just by doing it. We come to the rescue
when things start to become complicated:
1) The 3 minute AMV is over 1 gig in size and it won't compress any smaller!
2) I know I cut those scene's out; how did they show back up again?
3) ? you can actually make this edited file smaller while keeping it at 1080p ?
. as far as "what's a good size to work with" kind of questions, that is a
strange question to us. Some projects require 1600 X 1366 screen sizes while
others may only need 1280 X 720.
. If you want to have a dancing moose go running through your AMV's
background .. then do it ^__^
. If that moose ends up looking like a Pig with Antlers on it, now we know you
might have never drawn a moose before .. on that one, we can help you.
. you may have three layers of people/faces in a certain order all singing as
one but, your video only shows three ghostly images -- not one on top of
another like you thought they should be! yup, we can help you there too.

Re: Settings?
Project settings are mostly dependent on what you put in. If you put in DVDs it might be 640x480, 720x480 or 848x480, depends on what you did with it, but you might also work with HDTV RAWs (though we shouldn't) in 720p or even BD in 1080p or downscaled to 720p and then there are LOTS of other stuff (promos, web stuff, original animation, artistic purpose).
Because of this, AR and PAR differ case to case.
Only few rules that should help all the time:
- most anime is created in 23.976fps, so except a few exceptions you should go with that
- you should deinterlace before editing, so you can edit with progressive material (field order: None)
- full-resolution rendering quality should always be Best. You don't want to produce low quality stuff, do you?
Everything else is mostly good to go or you won't use it.
Rendering options should usually be the same as project settings.

That.
all its about your source, allways match your source files with your project and rendering settings, and your mask and timming will be like you want....
Try your sources have:
23.976 fps
Field order: progresive
Very high bitrates
and try to not get upscale videos, sometimes are horribles...
