DVD Rips in Vegas

Post by sesshomaru1992 » Sat May 10, 2008 12:20 am

So, I ripped some DVDs with DVD Decrypter to get VOBs and loaded them into Vegas 7. This worked fine for a while, but then some of my clips started going red and getting all jittery and playing wrong parts of the clip.

I know the problem isn't a large filesize, since I loaded 15+ GB uncompressed AVIs and edited with them without a problem. I tried converting the VOBs into AVIs and compressing them with VirtualDubMod using the huffyuv lossless codec and Vegas accepted one of these, then refused to import the rest. Even compressed each episode is around 11 GB.

I'd like to know how to import and work with VOBs without a problem (preferably), or if that can't be done, how to compress the AVIs into something less than a gig each or just as small as possible without loss (or as little as possible) of quality.

Any help would be apreciated. :D

you shouldn't use the .VOB's to edit with.

Run the .Vob's through Dgindex, which will create a .d2v file and an .avs file. Write your Script in the .avs file (very important: Deinterlacing of your footage!!!). Then use makeavis to create a fake avi file which is linked to your avs which is linked to your d2v which is linked to your vob :P YOu can use these fake avis to edit then.

I don't have the right Links for the exact Guides right now, but I know this is all explained in more details somewhere in the guides <_<

Maybe someone else is kind enough to point out the exact links for you...
