mp4 files in Vegas 7.0

Post by vinyaya » Sun Dec 30, 2007 4:24 pm

so I know that Vegas is ordinarily supposed to import MP4 files but mine won't...I've tried using avic 100 with it and converting it of course (but that takes forever)

can anyone help me? or is there just a better way to just convert it to an avi? :/

it's more than likely the codec within the mp4 container that Vegas cannot process... what you are going to have to do is convert it to a more editable format so Vegas can handle it...

Does it happen to be a x.264 encode?

yes it is x.264 encode and I have tried using Avisynth and VDub but it cant process the file correctly...

Winavi which usually does every mp4 well, also takes super long for this file >.<

.. your file may need to be converted by "Avidemux QT" which has worked for me in the past with H264 being mis-understood as X264 .. Avidemux will know the difference and convert the file sections for you 8-)

you don't want to be editing with x.264 footage any more than you want to be editing with divx/xvid footage
