I just got my new PC which came preloaded with Vista and am in the process of seting it up with all my software. I also bought a TV tuner with it so that I will be able to make video's of Football games and shows/movies that I have on VHS. But I ran into a little Problem. The TV Tuner and Windows Media Center works fine until I install Sony Vegas 7.0. I did some researching and it appears that Vegas and some other programs and codecs will cause Windows Media Center to not work.
The problem I am having is that somehow Vegas is forcing Windows Media Center Reciever Service to crash. There is a file somewhere within the 2 programs that are incompatable within the system. And this is not an issue secluded to Vista only. Alot of the info I found about it were from Forums that were dated as far back as 2005 and were running on XP Media Center Edition 2005, which is basically what Vista's Media Center is. At least that's the foundation Vista MCE uses.
So I have a major dellema. Right now I have to choose between a malfunctioning TV Tuner/MCE or no Vegas installed. Which would mean that I would have to completely scrap the video I was working on and start all over from scratch if I can find another editor that won't cause MCE to crash or live without my TV Tuner and MCE. Either way I am losing money if I wait too long beings how I bought these with my PC.
That is unless any of our smart members here at the org knows of a solution? Any one know how to fix the issue so that I can run Vegas AND still have MCE to work properly?
Also, does any other editors like Premiere have this problem too? I've heard some programs like Nero and some codec packs do, but I don't know why or what type of files are doing it.
