HD in final cut pro

is there any suggestion on how to spit out an HD file from FCP that is going to be compatible with other platforms? i normally won't dabble in HD files, until recently where i have some 720p raws. any suggestions for codecs, tricks, or tools that may make a more friendly cross compatible file with out exporting to less than hd resolution then upscaling?
