Everyone's first AMVs are not very good. Mine certainly wasn't. Those people that seemingly come out of nowhere with good AMVs? Either they have lots of previous editing experience or they've hidden their first productions and only released something after a lot of practice.

Aspect ratio. I assume you cropped around subtitles? These days that's pretty much completely unnecessary since most... uh... acquired footage has soft-subs. The weird shifting nature of the aspect ratio makes this difficult to focus on. Before getting into more stylistic stuff like flow, fixing the aspect ratio would be the first step.
