My First AMV : WIP - Elfen Lied (Wait) (youtube HQ)

Post by rook2pawn » Mon Mar 17, 2008 6:45 pm

I know, youtube HQ? its true. With &fmt=18 tag you get a much higher resolution
picture AND higher kbs video AND stereo sound AND higher kbs audio.

Anyways, please watch my WIP for Elfen Lied - Wait by Earshot

This is my first AMV

Actually, this is the forum for WIPs... it says so in the sticky at the top. And you can't enter a video into the database if it's a work in progress. I'd like official work on youtube for WIPs though.

whoops xD

I have overseen the WIP sign

As far as I have seen the video in you tube it seemed finished for me. I didn't notice that the video was cut in the end, because I haven't watched it to the end. Hmm, if you want to know what I think about it: "I really don't like that you have played with all those random effects. Those effects don't make any sense to me and if you think that it looks better with them in then you are mistaken. If I were you I would work on the music sync a lot more, add a whole lot of scenes to make the video look faster and throw all those random crap effects out of the amv. I kind of liked what you did in 0:15 - 0:21 The camera shaking and the zoom wasn't bad at all. I liked the scene at 0:59 also very much. It was better than any other transition you made in the whole amv. One more thing. Don't do those texts and if you insist on doing them then at least chose another font. That's my opinion so far :D

Sooo, I had run out of inspiration and that is why the video progressively makes less sense as the video goes on. I know that sounds horrible, but, well, the song wore me out and tired me looking for clips of where the main character Lucy looks sad and forelorn. If i see her sad and forelorn one more time, I might throw up.

Basically, the video IMO started to degrade in interest at 1:20 when I use the "Sony Tiles" or whatever transition.. I am working on more interesting mask transitions, but, really, I need to get that creative director's eye inspiration again.

One of my problems is that its really difficult to keep on repeating the idea that lucy is sad and rejected and isolated. But If I change the clips to something other than sad/lonely lucy, then I seem to drift from the song. Anyways, I love watching recommended AMV's from the forums and hopefully I'll get some more inspiration. Maybe I picked a song that kind of dudded out half-way through.

That's actually pretty decent for a first AMV. But I suggest you upload it here, you'll get more respect that way.

um, its a WIP. They want feedback on it BEFORE they finish it and upload it here. O.o

Anyway, not bad so far. Wasn't really liking the text. Or the effect at 1:22 I think. (The weird gray boxes/shapes thing) And there was one part where you had a round frame when all the other small frames similar to that were square/rectangular. Looked kinda weird. But so far so good. I like the feel of it. And as far as being tired of the sad thing goes, maybe you can make it so she starts out being sad and gets more and more angry as it goes on. Though that might be difficult to do if you want to keep it orgable. Unless you host it somewhere else (other than utube). idk. At any rate, I do hope you finish it. *^_^*

i just watched two AMV's: Cat's Eye and Fallen by VicBond007...

He is amazing. His sense of rhythm and visuals are perfect in my eyes.

I feel like Im hitting the ceiling on Sony Vegas. After Effects is always the deal-breaker, i noticed, in both AMV's and Machinima.... Hopefully i can use it the right way
