Blender in to After Effects

Post by Radiant_mt » Sat Aug 08, 2009 4:04 am

I was wondering if you can import a 3D model in to After Effects, as in I can use the x y z/(Rot) x y z
I know you can do it in Photoshop but is it also achievable in After Effects?
I don't want to key frame it in blender and chroma key it out in After Effects, I want to do it all in After Effects

Thanks

You can export from blender with a transparent background, and you can export your camera moves so you can add 3D effects relative to your model. But AE's not capable of actually having the full 3D model inside. You'll just have to plan out how you want the animation to look in blender. (If you make in 3D changes to your image in AE, 3D look of your original animation will get distorted.)

you can take the model to ps, then bring the psd into ae and manipulate the model in 3d space within ae. fine for simple stuff, but no lights/shadow interaction as far as i know.

also dog slow and cs4 only.

if you do the animation in blender you have far more control, and can obviously take advantage of sexy materials/lighting etc. i believe there is a blender script that exports maya scene files for when you want to get camera data to ae.
