help with an effect for my amv

Post by osonyer » Fri Jul 03, 2009 6:38 pm

Hi, Everyone...

I am not really a Newbie at editing videos, but I am not a pro...the vids I've been able to upload are on Youtube (username - osonyer) but I am working on a new video and I have seen alot more videos now that have layered anime. for example...Spike from cowboy bebop walking through a scene with vash the stampede...now I know what I would have to do with a still image but those scenes are moving, and after doing some research the only thing that I could find is, alpha/chroma keying on Adobe Premier...but when used on anime there are soo many different shades and layers of colors that the character i am trying to super-emboss goes with the effect when i try to alpha/chroma key and layer the two.

anyways my question, is can it be doing using only Adobe premier? or would I have to go use different programs, like after effects or image ready, and then transfer it to premier?

any help would be appriciated

From what I am understanding you'd want to mask a character. Doing that in premiere is technically possible (just follow the steps here), but it's not as easy as it is in photoshop or after effects, and the lack of zoom won't produce results as good. So yeah, you're better off using the pen tool in after effects or photoshop to do what you need. You can find a good guide on how to use the pen tool in photoshop here (it's a pdf, right click and save as).
