Never caught wearing...
White socks anywhere but in the gym or on the track.
Never forget...
The navy blue blazer. I have two, one light one for summer, one heavy one for winter. Pair it with dark jeans and a t-shirt for a chic casual look, wear it over a finely tailored shirt, elegant silk tie, and gray slacks for business, and/or everything in between.
I break this rule
I often go beltless when wearing a sweater, because I figure people can't see.
I never break this rule
Belt leather and shoe leather must match. Colored belts are fine for either, but brown belt = brown shoes, black belt = black shoes.
Controversial Style Decision
I have never been fond of the American style tradition that says you can only wear black, gray, or navy blue socks while dressed up. I either follow the Italian model, and wear a sock the same color as my pants, or I go British, and wear any damn color I please, even bright pinks, greens, yellows, etc.
