Kthulhu's cool music (January 16th 2003)...

Post by kthulhu » Thu Jan 16, 2003 11:42 pm

I recall trying something like this back in, October, was it? I'm too lazy to check. Anyhow, the reaction (or lack thereof) caused me to not try again...until now. I just feel like it. So, every week, I intend to post info on what I think are good songs. Songs will get a recommendation level, depending on how well I think they'll go over with the majority of listeners (assuming anyone takes my recommendations  ). Now, without further ado, this week's picks:

1. "Poppæa" by Theatre Of Tragedy. Pop Celtic sounding vocals (although the band is Scandinavian) meet with moderately hard gothic/folk rock. A beautiful yet not intoxicating song. The band could probably be compared to Nightwish, although with a more flowing rock sound and less instrumental bravado (no diss on Nightwish implied). High recommendation.

2. "A Martini Built For Two" by My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult. Techno 60's club lounge is the best definition I can think of for this song. A fun song to just space out and listen to. High recommendation.

3. "Crying In The Rain" by Culture Beat. Classic sounding late 80's/early 90's hard dance pop. Some people may recognize Culture Beat as the ones who did the minor hit "Mister Vain". Anyhow, this song about relationship break up kicks ass, lyrically as well as beat wise. Cynical, not sappy. High recommendation.

That's it for this week!

I will have to find and DL each of those songs to give them a listen.

If you posted them then they must have the emeril seal of BAM!

No one has talked to the real Emeril. He may actually just be organs in a tank somewhere, hooked up to a computer. So in his place, I put his seal on things.

But yeah, they have my seal of approval, and that's worth something, isn't it?

If you need to, AIM me.

I love Theatre of Tragedy. Damn good band, as far as I'm concerned.

So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab
