Something I have noticed is that there is not a lot of Ambient, Downtempo, Trip-Hop, and Nu-Jazz (electronic based jazz/instrumental) in AMVs. I know that most of it probably is just not the right type of music for it, but I have heard some that is. I was wondering how many of you dig these types of music and if you would ever consider making an AMV with some. I guess at the same time too I am looking to see what you guys would be listening to in these genres, as I am always looking for recommendations on new music.
Some of my favorites from these genres are:
Moca (album: Tempomat)
dZihan & Kamien (all their albums are good, esp the live in Vienna one)
Tosca (I dig most of their stuff)
Zero 7 (I like all of their stuff)
Ulrich Schnauss (I like most of his albums, and especially the stuff he does as Ethereal 77)
Blu Mar Ten (Some stuff is good, some I don't feel at all)
I do like the stuff they used in the beginning of the Reflections of Style 3 AMV. Although I can't recall the exact names, I think one of them was a remix by Abstract Keal Agram.

I recommend Bjorn Lynne and Amethystium. The latter I was introduced to through an AMV using one of his songs set to Azumanga Daioh.
Music like these are primarily electronic and are often designed more as background tracks or musical beds for films, commercials, games and the like. They can be used for a music video but because they are instrumental, you have to rely on a visual concept of your own and not "lyrical context" to edit.
I would advise you that Bjorn Lynne has his tracks (and many other artists) available for licensing through Shockwave-Sound. So if you plan to use something of his for a project ~ BUY IT LEGALLY! There's a lot of info on his site about it.

Thanks for the recommendations! I will certainly check both of them out.
As for purchasing the music, if its used in an AMV I certainly will. Usually if I like an artist I will purchase their stuff anyway(especially if its independent). Being a composer myself, I feel like it is helping the artist, and if its good, they deserve the cash.
