Another one of the few groups to come out of the 90's that didn't suck. I think I first discovered them in 1997 (Up until 1999, I was forbidden to watch MTV, and I didn't really know any of the stuff played on modern mainstream stations at that time). I think the first song I ever heard of theirs was "Gel" from the Jerky Boys soundtrack. However, I never got a CD of theirs until 2002 (but I have purchased compilations with their songs before then), when I bought the self-titled one used. And I didn't get a second one by them until just last week, when I bought Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid. I love the songs:

Collective Soul could possibly be my favorite not-metal band. I loved thier self titled release, and Precious Decleration, though it took me well over 3 years to apprecaite, STILL blows me away. I haven't kept up on them since then, until recently, but they're always just outside of my conciousness, like "oh yah, collective soul, I love them!"
