Audio junk detection

Hey all...

Is there any software out there that can detect things like skips or junk inside an MP3 file?

That way I can work with it without the sudden shock later that it has a defect in it. If everyone would be careful with MP3s then this would be no problem, but unfortunately there's crappy software and know-how out there. Oh well....
