no particular order:
Bruce Dickinson. Needs no comment.
Taneli [ex-Sentenced, Black League] Jarva. One of the few singers out there who can push from the gut and still sound like something.
Ihsahn (Emperor). In black metal, everyone is still either imitating this guy or Dani Filth, and Dani is a loser who sounds like Donald Duck. His range on "With Strength I Burn" off _Anthems..._, in terms of pitch, tone, dynamics, everything is just astounding.
Matt [Iced Earth] Barlow. His voice seems to have lost its edge since he started taking singing lessons, but if you just roar your head off like that forever, you're gonna blow your vocal cords out.
anyone who has ever sung with Borknagar. Garm, Simen, Vintersorg....these guys were all among the top voices in Scandinavia before they came into Oystein's band, and they all did some of their best work in their stints. Respective top performances (selected): "The Winterway", "Oceans Rise", "The Black Canvass".
and the one that gets rocks thrown at my head:
Will [Mortician] Rahmer. I do death metal vocals, and so I'm in a position to state that what this guy is able to do with his voice is very, very, physically difficult for a human being to accomplish. He's like the anti-Bruce: still pushing the limits of the humanly possible (at the other end of the spectrum) and still making it sound like something.
