The Id from Manchester UK wants Anime-lovers opinions
hello, we are a 2piece musical outfit called The Id, from Manchester, UK.
We would like to introduce ourselves to the users of this board, would love to hear your opinions
We're well into anime & manga etc, favs include Urotsukidoji, Evangelion, Akira, Fist of The North Star.
Please listen to the 3 tunes in the MP3/Audio section of our website....if you make anime at whatever level then we would love to talk about some kind of collaboration on an anime web music video, particularly for the tune "Juggernaut"
Think big android dreadnoughts with lots of sex and violence and you know what we love.
Anyway thanks!

Woo+Yay - I've seen you play live! It was at some live night I went to a few years ago, and there was lots of yummy soundscapes. I just checked out those mp3s and I'll probably turn up at Jabez.
Juggernaut is a cool track but it's a very segmented song. I would have trouble keeping it together. I'd love to see one of the better editors make a vid to this, it could be really damn good.
Personally I could see myself havin a lot of fun making a video to WoMF. (Not that I'm any good at making videos tho lol.) I'm not generally a big fan of the violence/sex/robot concept, but this could be a good song for an Eva vid. The lyrics would work for a grungy darkened evangelion style.
With "I think I never saw it coming, ..., did you ever dream it come?" there could be links to Instrumentality. And the feel change on 1:19 "...walk away" would allow more contrasts in the video. And there's plenty of space for big roboty fighting, especiall on the bit with the more aggressive vocals ending with the cut up "go". The distorted guitar riff which kicks in towards the end around 4:00 could be used for some nice effects. And the final "simple things, are what it's all about" could lead to an endin which kinda twists the video. But with my lack of skill, making it visually appealing to non eva fans could be difficult. Even so, it seems like fun.
Biggest problem I can see tho is if you want to use any video for promotional use. Pretty much everyone here makes videos with copyrighted anime material which leaves us legally in a very sticky ground. They western liscensors don't seem to mind it being used when it's just done as a fan's hobby, but they may get funny if they start to seem like more than that. However, the industry as a whole seems fairly friendly and open, sponsering amv competitions and such.
Anyway, welcome to the .org. The AMV scene has always been more closely linked with the anime scene than the music scene - but almost everyone would like closer ties with the music - and theres a lot of us who really embrace the idea of more involvment.

Hello there! wow that's a very in depth analysis! Fancy that!
How mad is that, i travel the internet left right and centre to find like-minded people on various music messageboards (easier said than done!)...then i find this cool site for Anime and figured its worth hooking up with a few manga-types and lo and behold the first one has actually seen us play....madness.
Thanks Taeli, we appreciate that!
Speaking of gigs, our next Manchester one is downstairs at Dry Bar on Saturday July 24th, so come down and introduce yourself!
But yeah i see what you mean about the legal issues..i hadn't considered that people cut n paste ready made films...
Are there any anime-style artists and animators in here?
If not...there should be!
Why AREN'T there some British Manga flicks being made? Or are there? If so, who?! where?!
again.....there should be!!
...always wanted to do a) the soundtrack and b) some voice-overs.
Anyway thanks again, anyone else, comments appreciated!
P.S. should you be tempted, legal or not, we'd always be well up for some crazy anime to go with our tunes.
Cheers!

Well, with cut & pasting you make it sound easy lol. But many of the good videos have huge amounts of cut & paste, along with lots of fancy effects and lip syncing. It's not dissimilar to bootlegging pop tracks, only with video sources.
There's quite a lot of people on the net who draw, and do very simple animations. But actually doing full on animation is a huge task. I've tried myself, just a few seconds of animation can take an ages. There are a few original animation videos on here - Kamoc and Nightowl have both made nice videos - but with full respect to them, the animatio quality is a far cry from the japanese anime. So for us to tell the stories we want to tell we generally just cut up stuff from other sources.
Also, try not to plug your band too much, it'll annoy a few people. For maximum exposure it's best just to put a link in your sig.

haha no, editing is editing no matter what, it's the same game. No disrespect to either method!
As for plugging,,,yeah this is the way of messageboard etiquette.
But some of it is a bit daft...you know, like "no elbows on tables".
Anyone who is trying to spread their art, be it music, video or whatever, these days have to tip toe round those touchy people who care about such trivialities.
Anyway have a good 'un, cheers!
