Local or Mainstream?

Just wanted to know if anyone out there prefers to use local bands from their area that haven't had thier "Big break" yet or people prefer to use more mainstream bands with at least one commerical success.

My sister's really into this local Sacramento band, and after going to a concert, hell I like them now. And I couple probably get some footage of the band to make a "Real" video... Maybe that's just wishful thinking.

I'm just throwing ideas around out here. Not sure if anyone will respond to this. I'll check back in a couple of days.

I like bands that aren't that well known yet. I don't know why really, but I feel that when it gets on MTV, the band is screwed.

European bands, well known or not, are typically really good. as far as mainstream, it's hard to tell when you dont listen to the radio.
