what is the source of this aesthetic?

Post by seasons » Sun Apr 26, 2020 6:09 pm

Glowing neon grid stretching in all directions as far as the eye can see.

Why?

How did this become shorthand for THE 80s ?

Don't tell me this is what it looked like, I was there. :(

This album came out in 1999, indeed it did predict the future.

How many more years of this before we beat something else into the ground for a change?

The Sun motif and electro music are influenced by shows like Miami Vice, but Tron also had something to do with it.

I guess in the 80s when people imagined the future, computers could open up a whole world of possibilities. As it turns out the world of computers isn't as adventurous and alien as most hoped.

I guess people look back on that time with nostalgia because life is boring and repetitive and you just want to close your eyes and imagine just how weird and beautiful life could be.

Not gonna lie, I was partying in Seoul back in 2013 and found a bar/club that was dedicated to the 80s. It was actually really cool and even though I was born in the 80s, you forget how many good songs came out of that decade. So I dig it.

If you think this is bad, just wait until some future decade portrays the early 2000s as a time when everyone wore trenchcoats and listened to nu-metal just because that's what The Matrix and Underworld were like.
