Well, I certainly do hope Durst is going to the dustbin of history... amen to that.

As for IE - yep, thus my doubts about them coming to argue  Although I guess it's not as uncommon as it may seem. Hell, I'd say the majority of my favorite artists have had someone with a controlling personality running the show...

As for LP - well... congrats to the fans. If there's one thing going for you, that's dealing with Mike and Chester instead of Jon or Robert...

I'm not all that well-aware of them TBH. Only heard one song by them (and I liked it).

Same for me and Fear Factory. The song I heard is "Zero Signal", which seems to be exclusive to the Mortal Combat Soundtrack.

And going back to the LP issue, as stated before, they're to damn popular and nice to the fans to just suddenly go away. They'll probably slowly fade into the back light like Bon Jovi. (and maybe come back 12 years down the road *cough*"It's my Life"*cough*)

And jumping to another band:

Does Orgy have respect?

I know all the EMHs will more than likely disagree(or maybe they won't, depends on how narrow their musical tastes are) Also, I may drive ithaqua insane (all I have to do is ask what genre they fit into  )

If you want really good 21st century music, you'll have to learn to like electronic music, because that's where much of the 'art' is nowadays. Just give Epitonic a browse, they know their stuff.

Of course, I still listen to Skinny Puppy and The Legendary Pink Dots, so I'm in the same position you are half the time.

No worries about 'learning to like electronic music' for me

It'll become immideately obvious when you consider that *guy in my sig*'s solo records are largely composed of midi-guitar produced, loop-delay enchanced droning which sounds about as electronic as things get to me. I realize that's not the sentiment among many hardcore music lovers, but I'm very positive about electronic music in most of its' forms. Just as long as it's good.

/kicks self, again

Well then, good 21st C music (at least in my ears)

tweaker you already know.
u-ziq is good (it's pronounced mu-sic, the u should have one of those little tails)
Plaid simply rocks. In that relaxed ambient way.
same with Sigur-Ros.
ohGr - so far my favourite Skinny Puppy side project
lesser - glitchy techno wierdness
kid606 - glitchy techno wierdness
Capital K - glitchy techno wierdness
Stromkern - one of the best newer EBM bands
Converter - my current favourite powernoise outfit
Kid Koala - the man is talented
Scarling - has Jessicka from JoJ, and is very gothy

As you get further down the list I think you'll be less interested, but I tried.

Heh, yep... the usual - so much good music, so little time/money. Although I'll get a look at these eventually, I think...

Now, see kids? This is why I don't really bother with Linkin' Park. Not because I'm weird. Not because they OMFG SUKC BAD!1. Not because I think Chester is ugly.
But simply because there's so much more... 'musical' music to go around, and I'm still stuck on the same thing, that I'll be dead a dozen times before LP's number comes up in my 'to listen' queue

Speaking of which... (sort of going OT again) - that list reminded me of somthing just now

****

I remember that Tweaker song with Sylvian's vocals on it - are those Tweaker's lyrics? I've been listening to Sylvian too much lately, and it strikes me that those lyrics are pretty very Sylvian. If I wasn't warned in advance, I probably would've thought that was his own song all along.

tweaker did the music first. When he put the album together, it was based on a painting he loved, and he came up with a bit of an album concept off it.
So when he got in touch with the various singers (3 made it on the album, 1 is on the single, and 2 are in limbo right now), he gave them the concept along with the base track, which they used to write vocals.

So yes, the words are Sylvian's.
And he's on the next album, out in April.

Ahh... of course! That explains a lot. The imagery/word patterns in there were very Sylvian, which is why I was wondering.

Gah! Another album to look out for. And I didn't even get Sylvian's latest solo release 'Blemish', the drum-less wonder that seems to be as love-it-or-hate-it with music people as Eva is with anime fans. I for one would like to hear that...

Okay, to bring this a little bit back on topic... :?

Well, yeah, probably. However, I don't think they're going to put out albums too much longer. Just like with all those boy bands (at least I don't think the big ones have put out albums recently). I don't think they have any real passion for their music, other than an outlet for anger and angst. Once that all passes, they've got a few options. The main ones being to either stop making music or to actually focus on the music. I honestly can't see a band like them sticking around for as long as other heavy metal bands have. Not saying it won't happen, it's just what I think.
