I'm a fan of the Mars Volta to some extent, myself (but, as you can see from my incompetence, not a very obsessed one). So math rock is the new title going around huh? Geh, I just call them prog rock and leave it at that, they actually fit in with that sort of brand nicely. Math enough though, I suppose.

They sound like math-rock to me. Maybe not to the extent of, I dunno, Don Caballero, but you certainly have to be counting to keep up. Crime In Choir is even more so, and without the vocals they sound a lot more like Don Cab.

And I think there are only the three offshoots, but I could be wrong.

Meh, my Favorite probably are "Die Ärzte"*, a hard to descripe, german Band.

*Anglophones without Umlauts may write them Aerzte, and there are a few AMVs hosted here with Aerzte songs.
