So, emo kids are "music fans that like to sit in the dark and cry to themselves over really sappy lyrics, sad things, love songs, they'll cry to just about anything."?
It's like callinf a gay person a fag. Sure it's not friendly, but there are kids who do this, and this is what most everyone calls them. I never said I was right, you're trying to sell your idea here and convince us you're right, your views are total shit.

Well you obviously care...I don't think I've seen anyone get so defensive about a non-personal post before. You sure seem intent on making it personal though. What's with the attack? Take some deep breaths and calm down.
You don't think that music is marketed toward kids? You don't think that it affects how they view the world and how they view themselves? If I'm wrong about these, please tell me so.
Precisely what did I say that was "full of shit"? I'd like to know, since you seem to have all the answers. You're holding out on me though. C'mon, make with 'em!
I would respond to your center paragraph, but I can't seem to make out what you're saying. Could you retype it?

I don't have the time or effort to educate you because obviously you know nothing, but I'm sure th kids at MTV would love to argue your opinions. You really do know nothing about the music industry. Once you're big and everyone can get a hold of your stuff it's over for you. You're no longer in control. You think Avril does her campaigning? Advertisment has NOTHING to do with the music.
BTW, I've got a pretty strong foot hold in the music industry. i work with under dog bands, before they get big. i know several bands that have gotten big. You have no idea what goes on, or what you're talking about. You're just rambling your opinions like they're true.
Bottom line, Avrils lyrics don't reflect MTV's "grabbing" kids or "brainwashing them" She wrote those lyrics for herself, and what ever toll has come from it, has nothing to do with intent of hers (remember, the writer of the lyrics)
None of the other guys have responded yet, but I'm sure they feel fairly the same. You mentioned I called you a pompous jack ass, I was quoting Kamoc. I'm sure I'm far from the last person that disagrees with you.

Ah, so you're in the "music business"? Very nice. Not sure if that means you make coffee for some label exec, or if you're a member of the Linkin Park street team. I have a hard time believing that someone on the inside would believe that "Advertisment has NOTHING to do with the music". You'll have to post emoticons if you're being sarcastic, because I know there's no one in the business who could say that and honestly believe it. I know you're a true music lover, so I hate to break it to you, but music is a business today, and most people that work for music companies are in the business of selling it, promoting it, and yes, advertising it. Artists (a term I use in the loosest sense of the word) are the products. Music videos are the commercials. Say it with me Jace. Pop...music...relies...on...advertising. See? It wasn't so hard.
Over and over again you tell me I don't know anything, but you don't answer any of my questions, nor do you give any backup to anything you're setting forth as fact. You're alos making a lot of assumptions here. One being that I'm not involved in the music business myself (which I am on the press side, though I'm sure you know all about that), the other being that everyone else on this board feels the same way you do. I'm sure they can think for themselves on this Jace. They have minds of their own.
And it bothers me that you're just fine with referring to homosexuals as "fags". Sure, "it's not friendly", but you equate it with your stereotypical views on emo kids which you still hold to be true -- for someone in the music business, I find it funny that you're just catching on to emo and the jokes that have been circulating about it for years now -- so you obviously aren't just kidding when you toss around words like "fag". For someone that wants to represent everyone else on this board, that's pretty sad. You seem like a very closeted and small-minded person to me, one that I was not trying to reform, but just one that I thought I could have a decent exhange of ideas with. I still hold out that hope, but it's growing dim with every accusation and nonsensical idea you toss out.
BTW, how does a high schooler get a "pretty strong foot hold in the music industry"? Sounds a bit far-fetched to me.

you don't want to take my word, that's fine. But I REALLY don't have the energy to argue with you again. That's argue with YOU, nd thena rgue again sepretly. i just got done telling the last fuck that didn't believe me. You seem a little more open minded than the last guy and I'm sure you don't need everything I typd for him, but there are pages describing my role.

I'm going to be working for a record company in the next year and a half. I constnatly meet with bands and I know lots of people. The bands when they advertise (YES ADVERTISING IS IMPORTANT, I NEVER SAID IT WASN'T) advertise their own way for themselves. The Used is a good example of a band slipping. They never had trouble making money, they attracted fans, REAL fans. Now with MTV taking over and who ever else wants to, to make them selves money (commision in some form i imagine) they're no longer advertising for themselves. Every dip shit in this country is starting to listen to them. A lot of good bands are completly self sufficient and couldn't give a dman about mass sales and being famous, they want to make their fans happy and spread their music. Sure they stress picking stuff up at the emrch counters, because they need to support themselves, they don't care about living in a mansion though.
I just got done talking with Clint Baker from the Riddlin Kids, and they're going on tour soon with Home grown, they're planning this and advertising, not MTV, not anyone else, them. And they're reaching the people they want to be there.
Now go read that other thread because honestly, I'm right "about everything i say on the other thread" and if you don't believe me after reading all those pages, fuck it I don't really care, i refuse to have thata rgument again.
