That's funny, all your original post cares about is rising camera prices and spreading rumors that have absolutely no connection to the reality on the ground.

Save your prayers, they aren't welcome.

Incorrect that all I care about is high prices and spreading false rumors, and that wasnt my original post. My original post was relating entirely to the situation dealing with just hearing about the natural disasters and the lives affected by this tragedy and what I said early this morning was information from many reliable sources and it would never cross my mind to post misinformation from unreliable sources. Watching the news right now on many channels including CNN and broadcasts in Japan and the info I posted is being discussed right now. I would never even dream of putting materials in front of human lives, that was my added opinion on the topic but I can understand how a person can take it in another direction. I will be giving my prayers to my friends located in Japan and their families including everyone else regardless of what you say. As long as I can I will be donating every week as well. Sorry if I had offended or annoyed you in any way.

Quite frankly you have such little understanding of the situation on the ground that I don't think you could identify a reliable source if it shook your hand and cafe you a business card. You're not helping your case, here.

Glad you're safe dokool.

The images I'm getting over the wire here are haunting.

I agree with Moonlight Soldier, glad you are safe. How are your friends/family over there?

My friends, as far as I can tell, are all safe. One of my close buddies is actually an EMT up in Tochigi Prefecture which didn't get hit quite as hard... he hasn't logged onto mixi in a couple days but I assume he's busy w/ relief efforts. If he doesn't check in tomorrow I'll send him an email.

Err, how did "gave" turn to "cafe"... :uhoh:

The nuclear plant issue seems to be getting a little hairier but no cause for panic yet. Containment is still in place and the reactors have been shut down, which is a good thing. An important thing to remember is that any precautions taken are indeed precautionary and not reactionary. I was in a junior high school when the big quake hit and everyone stayed in their classrooms until it was safe to go outside, then everyone went outside and was counted present. Just like they practice every month.

I'm gonna try heading into town pretty soon, I think. I haven't stepped foot out of my apartment since I got home on Friday night.

So at Fukushima they had a total power failure on the coolant pumps, the fuel rods cracked, the outer building had a hydrogen explosion, they had to release excess xenon, and they STILL only had a trickle of radiation get out, with only 4 people injured. AND all this from an old reactor. All the others shut down just fine.

I'd say that's a 5 star safety rating and excellent handling by the Fukushima reactor staff.

Even it becomes a worst case scenario and a meltdown occurs (it hasn't), the Japanese plant doesn't use graphite moderators like chernobyl so there's nothing for it to burn into a toxic smoke and cause widespread radiation. It would just burn into the ground and sit there like an angry bitch.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that the crew around here is doing well at least.

Just a friendly reminder to donate if you can. Every little bit honestly counts, even ten dollars could buy someone breakfast.
x2
Also, Crunchyroll is matching donations until the end of next week:

Sigh. I've had hick morons on my facebook posting this shit since it happened. I quickly de-friended their asses. It's just disheartening to think that when a natural disaster hits, the very first thing they thought of was "Ok... Now why did they deserve this?".

I'm a little surprised hat I haven't seen this kind of thing myself [Aside from what was linked earlier]. The forum posts, facebook updates and tweets have all been very concerned about the situation. The worst I've seen in "I guess Pokemon will never be able to use 'Earthquake' in the anime again", and that was coming from someone who lives in japan anyway.
