Spoiler :
1.Weeaboos who complain about dubs and say "they watch the original Japanese version of an anime to experience it as it was originally intended," completely disregarding the fact that it probably wasn't intended for non-Japanese audiences in the first place.

2.Wapanese guys that complain about 4kids' censorship, despite obviously having access to Chinese bootleg fansubs if they just can sit there and compare the English dub to the original Japanese. Not even going to mention the fact that they just watch the dubs to do this.

3.Whiners who cry about Funimation streams being locked at 360p and claim "they need to watch the anime in full quality to truly appreciate it." Because everyone knows you at least need a 720p 32 inch HDTV to enjoy children's television shows.

4.Paranoid fanboys that always cry out "Stop liking what I don't" because they can't handle people having differing opinions. (30% of pretty much any given anime's fanbase)

5.Obsessed fanboys that always cry out "Stop disliking what I like" because they can't comprehend people not liking their favorite anime (40% of any anime's fanbase)
#5 is only an 'issue' at times because it's inevitable that any discussion about a series will have someone (or multiple someones) that feel the compulsive need to air their distaste about the show and then proceed talk down to or make veiled insults about everyone else in the thread. Basically, #4, except with less paranoia and more vitriol/trolling. And then #5 can't stay quiet, feeds the troll, and it devolves into a flame war.

To extrapolate, #1 would be true of any piece of media that undergoes translation from one language to another. After all, if you could read or speak the language something was originally published in, there'd be no need for translation. It not being intended for [nationality] audiences is inconsequential by that point. The most valid reason for someone to favor subs over dubs is that they just can't stand to hear any more bad dubs in their native language, and they probably aren't as used to Japanese to be able to pick out bad Japanese acting (with possible exceptions for the absolute worst ones).

My spin with #1 is actually the inverse: those that dump all over the subs side of the debate because they can't fathom that some people prefer it over dubs. And even more so when they obsess over the English VAs like teenyboppers at a boy band concert. Especially when you consider that the talent pool for English dubs is so small and these people are in just about everything by a given localization company.

#2 is nonsensical. 4Kids and the other companies people would/will rage on about over censorship only do dubs. And if the only domestic release of that show is by said company, then you're kind of up shit creek without a paddle if you want a legitimate copy and don't have the money to import the R2s and reauthor the discs with proper subtitles (and that's even given the much much smaller number of users that have the technical know-how to do that in the first place). And besides, this is barely ever true these days - in the 60s-90s, yeah, it was a real problem, and was exponentially worse the farther back in time you go. Not so much since 2000.

I'm with you on #3. They know full well that if they don't like 360p and abysmal quality they can find better versions elsewhere (and with subtitles that won't cause eyes to bleed). They're just lazy.

6-18 I can't really comment on.

Wait, I just typed a response for that, but I apparently was logged out and it got eaten. Let's try this again...

Well, you've got me there. That seems to happen on a lot of forums I've been one.

Hm... never thought of it that way. Good points.

I usually stick with whatever one I heard first. However, I've been watching a lot of shows subbed, lately.

Yes, they are also pretty annoying. Though in my experience, they're not as prevalent.

I was referring to the people that watch fansubs of One Piece/Yugioh then watch episodes of the dubbed version just to complain about how bad it is, despite the fact that no one is forcing them to do so and they already have access to the version of their preference. It just seems sort of pointless to do so, in my opinion.

For the most part, yes. Though I don't remember much censorship in Speed Racer. Everything else, though...

Don't think I've ever seen subs that bad, but I can definitely imagine them existing.

Nope. Touhou is about the most hardware-taxing series I play (well, and Portal for a couple weeks last year). The rest is largely pre-3D era console and portable games.

I do have some experience with neckbeards, though. I've been hanging about in Linux land for several years.
