Well...shit

I can't for the life of me figure out who does have those aspects. That's why Dee Snider wasn't my solid choice, and what exactly I've been trying to figure out. Certainly there must be someone out there who has these qualities. THINK DAMMIT!!

Lorenna McKennitt, Rob Halford, Hansi Kursch, Mikkel Sandager (Danish Metal Vocal Performance of the Year, along with Kral [congrats Mercenary!]) Kai Hansen, Marco Hietala (to a lesser extent) Tarja Turunen, Amy Lee, and Ed Kowalczyk are great examples of singers who are MUCH better than Maynard, because of the range of singing ability they have used.

Peter Thomas 'Steele' of Type O Negative is a good example of range, vocal melody, and diversity. He is a very talented individual. He is the vocalist, the bassist, and the songwriter. Love you to death is my favorite song from them.

Maynard, Is the best IMO because the "small range" he does use is something that I enjoy more than I normally do with other vocals. this thread was never intended to be the "what technically creates the best" just who is your favorite.

this means that you might not agree with me but thats who in MY OWN OPINION is the best. usually "opinionated bests = favorites" since its not based on things like "fact" or "statistics" or other tangibles.

Although Peter Steele is the best in my opinion, he is not my favorite vocalist. He is simply what I would consider a vocalist with the best range, and melody. That is really what I meant. My favorite vocalist is Shirley Manson.
