Yes yes, Billy Ray needs to burn for that.MistyCaldwell wrote:I wanted to hurt someone really bad during the Achy Breaky Heart craze. It sucked...why did anyone even like it?
An don't forget The Ketchup Song. If they play that one more time at work, I will destroy the world. Trust me it's for our own good.

Dude, WTF are you smoking? Like, HALF of Britney's songs and 3/4 of what I've heard from BSB are better than "Too Shy" and "What Boys Like"! If you want to talk about some REAL '80s one-hit wonders, I can happily point you in the direction of After the Fire, Animotion, the Bangles, the Cars, Cindy (or is it Cyndi?) Lauper, etc.tutterbutter wrote:Some of the best one hit wonders were in the 80's..
T'Pau - Heart and Soul
Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come on Eileen
Kajagoogoo - Too Shy
Waitresses - I Know What Boys Like
As for music today.. How do you even classify it, because the band gets big with one song.. and people generally accept thier second and thirds songs great or not. Americans, are accepting creatures.. I look at the billboard top 100, and I think I actually know like 5 songs outta the whole list. WtF is 50cent/JayZ/Ashanti/Floetry/ Im clueless. I think Im getting old. Holy Crap I knew this day would come, but why so freaking soon!
Linkin Park/Limp Biscuit/Creed etc, I dont think can be classified as one hit wonders because theyve had several songs reach the top ten/ or albums etc. But I do pray for the day, The Good Looking, Boy Bands go away.. And personally I put LP in that list. Rock or Pop.. Pretty Boys Make Graves..
Then Again Theres some who says there needs to be Balance.
There needs to be love - backstreet boys, Nsync, Spears etc
There needs to be Hate - Linkin Park, Limp, etc.
Then theres me who simply lives with the fact it all sucks, and to stay away from the scary thing called the radio.

After The Fire: Check. Although they just translated a Falco song and redid it. Can this even count as a hit?the Black Monarch wrote:If you want to talk about some REAL '80s one-hit wonders, I can happily point you in the direction of After the Fire, Animotion, the Bangles, the Cars, Cindy (or is it Cyndi?) Animotion: Check.
The Bangles: "Walk Like An Egyptian", "Eternal Flame", and "Manic Monday" are all one hit?
Cyndi Lauper: Ditto for above. "Girls Just Want To Have Fun", "True Colors", "She Bop", "Time After Time", and "All Through The Night" were hits.
Not to be an ass, but I thought I'd point that out.
I'm out...

"In a Big Country" by Big Country.
One of my wife's friends got this song stuck in her head over the weekend, and now she has it on like constant play on her Powerbook. AAARGH! Thank goodness for the fact that her Powerbook may have better-sounding speakers, but my Toshiba has louder ones- and "In a Big Country" loses in a big way to "Love Tropicana" at high volumes.... 8)
