Is this open to making maps, or have they just been adding new ones? Saw a couple the other day that I didn't recognize.

Yeah, users can make maps. They have more "official" maps coming (two new ones, in supposedly the next two months). There's also going to be large, upcoming "gameplay tweaks," apparently.
