Is there any sort of theme or message you're aiming for (and don't mind revealing)? I have plenty of non-emo rock/metal but most of it is fairly contextual. Additionally, there's plenty of music I find uplifting, but only at the right times. So I probably have nothing solid to offer, but if I knew a little more, it's possible that I do.
The first thing that came to my head, however, is "6:00" by Dream Theater. It's the opening track on the album, and it always puts me in a great mood, but it really isn't uplifting; at least not traditionally, and that's the only way I can qualify "uplifting". I guess I don't listen to much happy music. I feel I should add that "Learning to Live" by the same band is always and irrefutably uplifting. The downside is it's over 11 minutes long.

Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

The message is pretty open, pretty much ANYTHING that doesn't have to do with idonthaveagirlfriendandlovesucks drama. Actually, anything that doesn't mention girls is probably good. I find a song I like then figure out what I'm doing with it, so...Flint the Dwarf wrote:Is there any sort of theme or message you're aiming for (and don't mind revealing)? One problem I'm running into is a lot of references to modern society specific things, such as cities or car models or celebrities..I'd like to avoid that.
I know more what I don't want than what I want :\
