I, myself, dispise rap, especially mainstream rap. I can't even respect it at all. The only exception are a few of Eminem's songs.
Now, with that out of the way. Proof was more than just a rapper, he was a man, and that shouldn't go ignored. He was a person like any one of us, making a living, had a family, and all. It's sad when someone like that dies, especially when that person is known to a bunch of people, a wide audience even. I hate seeing things like this happen, and maybe it's just life, and maybe i might seem like just a kid saying this, but it isn't fair that things like this happen.
Have you ever noticed how many rappers and 'wannabe gangstas' (i hate that term.. > <) die from being shot at? It's odd that they always choose a gun to shoot each other with, and it seems very typical if you look at stereotypes on TV.
Maybe this is fate that events like this happen. Maybe destiny has it in for us, but this person, who had a future ahead of him, is now gone, and there's nothing we can do about it. It's the sad truth.. > >

Hell, if I know. Full story accounts Proof pistol wipping a guy then shooting him, and while hovering over is body being gunned down in a shitty club that has been raided countless times and all this occured after hours even though they should have been closing...
yeah I'm going to let this go. Lets hope future commercial rappers practice common knowledge.
D-12/10 has nothing going for them anymore. Proof was the best of the non Marshals, and (present day) Eminem has only the ability to keep the attention of people who dont know where to find better rap (aka pop whores)

Also kind of ironic is the fact that on D12's last album, D12 World, the last song before the bonus song, Keep Talkin, is called Good Die Young, which was, more or less, a tribute to slain member Bugz.megaman917 wrote:What's kind of ironic about Proof's death was the fact he was depicted being shot and later dying in the video for Eminem's "Like Toy Soldiers", and then this happens.
Assuming that Eminem hasn't retired from rap, it's possible that D12 will release another album, using vocals from Proof's solo album or vocals from his mixtape. Then again it's possible that a new member might be brought in to take Proof's spot, just like how Eminem became part of the group after Bugz was killed back in 1999. It might be a while before we actually any new music from Eminem or D12, assuming they make anything new.

I recently read on Aftermath's official site that according to 50, Eminem is gonna come back out fighting in response to Proof being killed and his impending divorce from his wife.

MTV.com wrote:In an interview with the Detroit Free Press, D12's Kon Artis said that the Eminem-fronted hip-hop collective plans to carry on without Proof, who was killed during an April 11 nightclub shooting. Kon said that D12 will finish the album they'd been working on, and that the effort will feature verses Proof recorded before his death. "We're just taking the record to the next level," Kon Artis said. "We had some songs recorded already. We got a song called 'Holding Our Own' that we recorded, and Proof is on that song. If people think that because he's not here we're not going to keep doing what we're doing, then they're wrong." The album may include guest appearances by Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes and G-Unit, he said, adding that an album by Proof, called Time Will Tell, should also surface this year. Proof recorded the LP in 24 hours a few months back. ...
