Kou Ohtani (Howard Shore)/Yoko Kanno (John Williams)

Post by W i l l o w » Fri Feb 11, 2005 3:51 pm

If there's anything I like, its Score's from TV or movie's I like; Gundam W is the very Gundam I've ever watched (08TH MS Team is the second), and the music composed by Kou Ohtani is the coolest I've ever heard; Lord of the ring's is a movie that needs no introduction and nobody (or anybody.. your choice) can deny that Howard Shore was the better choice for the score than John Williams. But my question to you is: Who do you think is the better composer?

Kou Ohtani (Gundam Wing)
Howard shore (L.O.T.R.)

or

Yoko Kanno (Wolf's rain/Escaflowne/Ghost in a Shell)
John Williams (StepMom/Star Wars).
Its the stronger who create the weaker; it was the strong earth that created the weak colonies and almost drove them to destruction!

Well, Shore also did the soundtracks for Seven, Silence of the Lambs, Ed Wood, and Philadelphia... I liked the music in all those. I think I prefer Shore, but I wouldn't say one is better than the other.

As for anime, I'd take Yoko Kanno over Kou Ohtani.

But Danny Elfman's my favorite movie composer.

I'm a huge Yoko Kanno fan so my default I pick her.

And since I'm a both movie and book LOTR/Tolkein geek, I'll go with Howard Shore...that and I love the score for LOTR.
