In Defense of The DDR Max Nonstop Megamix

Post by Garylisk » Fri Oct 22, 2004 4:21 am

This is copy/pasted from a text file I made.

Basically, DDR Project 4 (5th Mix) is going to be the last one.. Well, damn it, I was looking forward to doing 6th mix.. so many good songs! But hey, if I can't convince anyone to do another DDR Project, I can at least post this list in defense of the megamix.

People were bitching and whining about the mix being dissapointing. Weak. And most of all, repetitious.

In Defense of the DDR MAX Nonstop Megamix

People complain that the megamix is repetetive and stupid, but I think that's just their inner elitist getting the best of them. Don't let yourself be swayed by peer pressure, read this, listen to the megamix, and see for yourself that it's not really too bad. In fat, in my opinion, it rules.

Here, let's go through the track list.

##. Title - Artist - Version - Repetitive? Extra info?

01. w ww.Blonde Girl (Momo Mix) - Jenny Rom - Long Version - No. It's just a longer version than you hear in the game.
02. Nori Nori Nori - Judy Crystal - Game Version - No. It's the same as in the game.
03. Fantasy - Melissa - Game Version - No.
04. Yozora no Muko - Eurobeat Lovers - Long Version - No. It's just a longer version.
05. My Sweet Darlin' - Wildside - Long Version - Somewhat. The refrain is looped once, but it's varied to keep it fresh.
06. I'm In the Mood for Dancing - Sharon - Game Version - No.
07. Sobakasu Freckles (KCP Re-Edit) - Tiggy - Long Version - No.
08. Bye Bye Baby Balloon - JOGA - Long Version - No
09. Justify My Love - Tess - Long Version - Somewhat. The refrain loops, but is raised an octave.
10. Cowgirl - Bambee - Long Version - Somewhat. After the first refrain, there's a bridge, and then the refrain again.
11. Highs off You ~Scorccio XY Mix~ - 4 REEEL - Long Version - No.
12. Let's Groove - Tips & Tricks vs. Wisdome - Long Version - No.
13. Miracle - St. Jannaro - Game Version - Somewhat, but only because the song is somewhat repetitive anyway
14. Center of the Heart (Stonebridge Clubmix) - Roxette - Long Version - No
15. On The Jazz - Jonny Dynamite! - Game Version - No.
16. true... ~trance sunrise mix~ - Kosaka Riyu - Game Version - No.
17. Do It Right - SOTA feat Ebony Fay - Game Version - No
18. Ordinary World - Aurora featuring Naimee Coleman - Game Version - No
19. Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Cosmic Gate - Long Version - Excessively. The refrain and chorus loop 3 times. This is really the wound of the project, but it could be easily cut down for an AMV Project.
20. Lovin' You ~Rob Searle Club Mix~ - Vinyl Baby - Long Version - Somewhat. The instrumental part from the end is put at the beginning as well.
21. Ghosts ~Vincent De Moor Remix~ - Tenth Planet - Long Version - Somwhat. The instrumental part from the end is put at the beginning as well.
22. So Deep (Perfect Sphere Remix) - Silvertear - Game Version - No
23. Look to the Sky - System SF feat. Anna - Long Version - No.
24. Twilight Zone ~R-C Extended Club Mix~ - 2 Unlimited - Somewhat. It's just a longer cut, but it has a loop of the instrumental part/hook. (But the song kicks ass, sho who the hell would complain?)
25. Max 300 - Omega - Unique Version - No. It's a unique version, different from the game version.
26. Dive to the Night - Kosaka Riyu - Different Version - No. It's a different version than you hear in the game
27. Dive ~More Deep and Deeper Style~ - Be For U - Game Version - No.
28. Witch Doctor ~Giant Toons Remix~ - Cartoons - Long Version - No. It's the full cut of the song.
29. Telephone Operator ~Club Mix~ - Shelley Peter - Long Version - No.
30. Do You Remember Me - Jenny - Long Version - No.
31. Flash in the Night - Flashman - Long Version - Somewhat. The refrain loops.
32. Follow Me - Lady Baby - Game Version - No.
33. Exotic Ethnic - RevenG - Unique Version - No. It's a different version than in the game.
34. Healing Vision ~Angelic Mix~ - 2MB - Unique Version - No. It's a different version than in the game.
35. CANDY* - LUV UNLIMITED - Game Version - No.

There you have it.
35 tracks, all good songs (For the most part.)
And only ONE of them is excessively looped!

So, like, what's up with that stuff? Why not do a DDR Max Project? Would it really be that horrible?

And if I am by myself, and everyone hates this megamix... well, damn it, that sucks.

Another complaint is that there's a lot of songs that are the same thing you get in the game.. that there's nothing special about a lot of tracks...

Hey, I thinkt he songs themselves are pretty special, actually. And also, look at the Unique songs you get in this mix. Unique versions of Exotic Ethnic, Healing Vision, and Max 300. Also, there's PLENTY of longer, extended cuts of songs that are NOT just some guy looping the refrain to fill time because, supposedly, there weren't enough songs to make the megamix long enough. That's crap, man.. the mix has 35 freakin' songs! That's a lot of songs, if you think about it.

So blah, I stand by this mix as the best Megamix out of all 7 core DDR Megamixes, and anyone who disagrees is entitled to their own opinion.. but I love it, and always will!

I would love to. Seriously. But I don't have the resources. MAYBE if someone donated a server with webspace for collecting the videos... but without that, I'm boned.

I'm barely making it by with Short AMVs... Of course, there's very little interest, so that's a given. The webspace I have has no bandwidth limit, but a severe disk quota, and I cna't take up much of it since it's my girlfriend's website.

But still... hey, if someone's willing to give me some webspace and an FTP for participants to upload the videos to, I will organize DDR5 in a hearbeat.

Hmm, or hey, I could just have people snail mail their entries on CDs/DVDs.. that could work.
