Ouch. I sympathise. Although I don't like that particular Beatles song...rose4emily wrote:As to Linkin Park itself, I find it irritating as all hell, but mostly because of overexposure (as in my roommate listens to only Linkin Park and Evanescence, and will put a single LP song and its five remixes on a loop for three hours on end - I'll put on Abbey Road and he starts complaining halfway through "Maxwell's Silver Hammer").
I don't mind the political edge of music at all, even though I'm an evil pro-globalization, pro-life, pro-gun rights, anti-job protectionism, pro-Iraq war, pro-legalizing pot, pro-gay marriage, anti-death penalty, suspicious of the Patriot Act republican. (Hey wait, how'd those last four get in there?) There just has to be quality music behind it. Pearl Jam does it for me. The pro-choice "Brick" by Ben Folds Five does it for me. So far, none of RATM's stuff does it for me.
