Sigur Rós..
Man, I've been addicted to finding all this weird icelandic music lately. Has anyone on the board (besides Temjin), heard of Sigur Rós? If not, you're really missing out. I suggest downloading "Untitled 3" off their latest CD "( )". good stuff! XD

Yeah, I've heard of them. I was walking around in FYE, looking for an X-mas gift for the folks (I got them an Eva Cassidy CD), and I saw the CD there. I thought, "What the hell?" and popped it on FYE's little preview thingys they have. Shit, I liked it. I want to go back and buy it, but I haven't cashed my check yet.
.....wait a minute....
*Goes to cash check and buy CD*

Seen 'em twice, October 2001 at the Vic in Chicago, and this past November at the Riviera in Chicago. I liked the first show a lot better because I was up close, where I was in the balcony the second time around (though the string quartet they brought onstage with them the second time around really filled out their songs nicely). My ex-roommate was/is a total Sigur Ros freak, and for a whole semester in college, he pretty much played Agaetis Byrjun every night when he'd go to sleep. I loved that album, but I think I ended up using it as background music too much, so I don't listen to it much these days. I need to give it a good spin.
The new album is great too. It's really an album that you need to sit and listen to, not to in the car or while working out (obviously) or anything like that. Unfortunately I've been to busy lately to do anything but listen to CDs in short bursts, mostly listening to albums with fun songs and good singles. ( ) is not an album like that, but it's really beautiful. Actually, I think I'll listen to it now. Tracks 3 and 8 are my favorites.
Are there any Sigur Ros AMVs? If not, someone should definitely make one, though the sheer length of most of their songs would make it quite a challenge, I'd think.

I listen to ( ) all the time in the car, it's just my type of music to listen to at any given time, much like Múm. Tracks 7 and 8 are extremely epic...god I love it. I need more.
