Hi, I'm END! I just recently found this site while looking through anime con amv contest pages and was excited that there is an amv community around and not just isolated editors. I am relatively new to being an anime fan and a music video editor. Before 2022 I had only watched liked 2 full animes and some youtube videos and clips here and there, though come early 2022 I found Symphogear then real-robot mecha animes and I was hooked.

Now I'm not that new to animation fandom and video making in general as I was very involved in the brickfilm (lego stop-motion) community from 2013-2019 and still dabble in that from time to time.
Another similar interest to AMV's I had before anime was watching fps game frag movies, to the points added sounds (gunfire, casters, memes) of those become ingrained in my memory of some songs, though I never made any myself as footage recording and sorting that was too much of a hassle.

To wrap up this story, while I had been watching AMV's liked I had frag vids since I got into anime in early 2022 I didn't make my own until this last July. I always enjoyed seeing the stuff artists made for the bdays of anime characters and I wanted to participate for one (my fav Symphogear character) but with something more my skillset than drawing. So I booted up my editing software from my lego animation days and made and AMV covering her story set to an old Bionicle song. I've made one more since (a Nanoha A's one for Christmas) and have one more currently being edited when I have the focus and ideas.

Hi, I'm new to the forums. I've been making music videos for 10 years and honestly I'm hoping to go for another 10 more. Now that I've reached the age of 30, I realized something that echoed in my head from back when I was 18. I can remember my high school Digital Media teacher saying "I can see Earl doing animation for the rest of his life and enjoying it." I've strayed from the path of my passion a few times but now I am ready to hold strong to my promise and my dedication to the craft of video editing and video art. I got distracted by the internet and proving myself to people I had nothing in common with. I love anime, I love art, it's time I prove that to myself first and foremost. I am happy to join the amv forums. Be careful around me, I may be new to the forums, but I can run circles around you in the Adobe Suite. I've got way beyond 10,000 hours of experience and a drive to know that there is no such thing as magnum opus.
Are you on YouTube?

When you say that you've "been music videos for 10 years," are you talking about AMVs or something else?

Hey everyone.

At some point last year, I was exposed to the renown "Auriga" AMV by Nostromo, and that has planted a seed within me. I thought AMVs were just these cringeworthy creations so that teenagers who like Naruto too much can vent their feelings of dejection and other connected emotions by linking a Linkin Park song with clips from the show. I genuinely did not know that there was such a thing as a good AMV, until last year, when I found Auriga, and now I feel sad that I've missed out on participating in this once great art community. Seeing the earlier posts from 2010 at the front of this thread is painful to my heart. I really miss that era of the internet. I wish I'd known the people who were here back then.

I checked out CrakTheSky's top 10 AMVs for 2021, and now, now I know that this is something I want to do. I think I'll have fun here.
Have you edited any AMVs since you made this post?

You can find more of his favorites from the past 2 years since then, if you're looking for more inspiration or just good stuff worth watching.
