Question: A brick wall??

Post by lloyd9988 » Fri May 27, 2011 9:47 pm

:?: I'm trying to make a new AMV (obviously) with a bunch of different animes, but I seem to always hit a brick wall every time I'm trying to make a new scene. Like, I only have 50 seconds when I have been working on this for three days and I always get stuck on what my next scene will be :/. Pretty much, I have no idea what I should do when I get stuck because I can never seem to find the right scene or the right anime. Should I just look harder or take a break, and what would the best way to look for good scene footage besides looking through each anime series and episode??

Just ask yourself: What I want next?
Depending of the song, or the main idea, you may know what scenes you'll need. But if you feel tired enough, it's better to take a short break

Usually what I do when I can't figure out what to do next with something is go pick up a hooker, take her home with me, sit her in front of my computer, and make her finish it for $5 an hour. Works every time.

Considering my editor is a NLE I just go to a different part of the timeline and work on that there... I often try to do the ending of my video first rather than work at the beginning first.

I'm actually having the same problem with my current project. I have like 70% of it done but finding scenes isn't easy.
If you're following the lyrics and can't figure out what would be appropriete scene for one of the senteces than try doing all kinds of activities while thinking about it. Watching all kinds of anime / tv shows / amvs / whatever comes across your sight is also helpful.

Also as Jaddziadax said you don't have to start at the beginning and end at the end. This is screenshot of what my current job looks like

As you can see, I am working on like 10 places which is kinda helpful considering the difficulties I am having with picking of scenes.

I also wrote down all the senteces that I have yet to edit which kinda allows you to concentrate only on what you want

Hope you'll get what I meant and good luck ;)

Like what others have said, working on the parts you have strongly in your head works well for me. I havent done a multi-anime vid in a while so this may not apply as simply, but scanning through your eps with a specific couple of lines/lyrics in mind helps me out too. I've recently ended up watching episodes on fast-forward to save time ^^;

Yeah, I did that and I realized that all I needed to do what just to swim a few laps to realize that I can start doing good again.

Thinking... thinking... thinking... ... ... genius :up:

Its a good idea, so I'll try it, but the problema is that I have an iMac so I end up using iMovie instead. However, I think I know a way around it so I'll give it a shot!
