I'll find out once the first round of Project Editor is done. I can't just nuke my computer yet until that's done. But I'll keep you guys updated and let you know if it worked.

Ah. Luckily it's no longer necessary to boot&nuke.

The OS disk had a repair option (I wanted to try that before I totally wiped everything on the Hard Drive), which just basically re-installed the OS. The Windows Update service is now working beautifully, and all of the other problems will soon be resolved (hopefully). I'm still downloading the SErvice Pack 1, and that should install if all is well.
