Songbird is aiming to be an open-source alternative to iTunes.

Songbird™ is a desktop Web player, a digital jukebox and Web browser mash-up. Like Winamp, it supports extensions and <strike>skins</strike> feathers. Like Firefox®, it is built from Mozilla®, cross-platform and open source.

Still in beta, but you can try the Windows version at songbirdnest.com. Their software is built around the VLC core (link).
