In a total sidenote, it's kinda strange how seeing the phrase 'attempts suicide' immediately makes you think he failed even though, as this story points out, it's perfectly possible to attempt it and succeed. Well, he did fail, when the story was first written. They had found him hanging somewhere, rescued him and took him off to the hospital. Later on, he died.
