Metrocon 2007 Anime Music Video Contest rules
Contest Email: amv@animemetro.com
Contest Deadline: Received by June 9, 2007
PLEASE NOTE: The contest form will be early next week. Also, we are planning on having an upload section for the videos so that contestants will not have to directly mail in their videos. We will accept mail in videos at this time until we have the upload section finished.
The following are categories for the contest:
* BEST DRAMA
* BEST COMEDY
* BEST ACTION
* BEST PARODY
* BEST OF SHOW
* BEST TECHNICAL EDITING
* Master's Category (winning AMV at other cons)
More categories may be added depending on the videos submitted. All entries received before the deadline will be screened by a panel of judges. Judges will rate the entries to determine which videos will make the final contest video. The contest has a time limit of 60 minutes, but all videos will be shown over the weekend in viewing rooms.
The AMV Contest RULES are as follows:
1. Any person may enter this contest including attendees and METROCON volunteers, the only exceptions are contest judges and METROCON core staff members.
2. Only 2 entries allowed per person or group.
3. Submissions will be accepted on CD-R or CD-RW media ONLY.
The file type must be one of the following: .avi .mpg or .mpeg
We will not convert your file to an appropriate file type for you or download any codecs. If your entry falls into this category, the entry will be disqualified. (If we cannot get a file to play, then we cannot judge it or show it at the convention. We reserve the right to not contact you about this. It is the creator's responsibility to make sure it functions before being sent.)
4. A contest registration form (that has had all info filled out) must accompany all entries. Failure to fill out requested information may result in disqualification from the contest.
Mailing Address for entries:
Metrocon, LLC.
AMV Contest
4501 Manatee Ave #304
Bradenton, FL 34209-3952
Metrocon is not responsible for lost, misdirected, stolen mail or damaged tapes.
5. Entries should be AMVs which were made in either 2006 or 2007.
6. Entries must not have a running time of over 6 minutes.
7. Any entries of the "Mortal Kombat" theme with a bunch of fight footage or "Danger Zone" with lots of dogfights will be painfully viewed by us, most likely set on fire, given to the chess cast to use as targets for sword practice and then the remains will be put away where we can't see them ever again. Please try to have some originality. (There have been very few exceptions to this rule over the years but we can say that they were incredibly original in their ideas.)
8. Your DVD/CD-R/CD-RW entry MUST be marked with the following information:
-- your contact information: legal name (not your fan name), current residing address, phone number and email.
-- Titles of video, name of songs & music artists, name of anime used for footage and the running time of entry.
9. AMVs will be shown to a general audience and therefore may be disqualified for use of:excessive nudity, graphic sexual content, gratuitous violence, or excessive foul language. All videos need to have a maximum rating of PG-13. METROCON reserves the right to not show an AMV for ANY reason that is deemed unacceptable.
10. Submission of an entry does not guarantee it being shown in the contest. Please do not be upset if your video isn't show during the actual AMV competition. Since the AMV contest is only 60 minutes long, we can only show what we feel is the best of the best; however, entries that did not make it into the final round will be shown in a overflow video room.
11. Only submissions of good video quality will be accepted. If the quality is really grainy or difficult to view, it will not be accepted.
12. No subtitles on the footage unless they are there with a purpose and relevance to the AMV.
13. No entry media will be shipped back to entrants! The recorded media will become the property of Metrocon LLC. The video content is the property of the contestant. Do not send us the only original copy you have of your AMV just to avoid mailing accidents.
