AKON 18 - Deadline Extension
Creators,
So far we have had an awesome year and the submissions are looking great, but we still have room for more. At this point, we have had no problems with playback and things are looking sharp for the contests. Our workload has been significantly diminished due to our new set of computers and so we feel comfortable giving you guys a bit more time for touch ups and completion on your vids. Therefore, in the spirit of all things most excellent, I will be extending the deadline his year to May 1st.
So, you heard it here first...
A-Kon is extending its deadline for all events to May 1st, 2007
I'll be updating the site to reflect this shortly, but if you're going to submit go ahead and sign up so we know to expect your video. You don't need to worry about waiting until your ready to upload or mail in your video to submit. Due to the new submission management system you now have the ability to retract or withdraw your video if for some reason you are unable to complete it. In adddition, if we get worried we'll email you.
For those who need this, here's the link:

I´m pissed on. No wonder that you don´t have enough entrysEligibility Requirements: Must have won an award previously at a recognized convention or have professional video editing experience.

Isn´t that rule enough?
Already grant with this requirement high quality amvs at the show -.-'Minimum Required Score: 63 / 105 **
yeah hurray. So I can´t send my current project. What I need are the 10 minutes from the expert´s contest.Experts' Exhibition wrote:Maximum Submission Length: 6 minutes
Meh... Now I have one contest that runs with my amv. So if I don´t win, I can go to hell. Hurray...

That rule only applies to the Experts Exhibition and is an event designed to allow previously recognized creators and pros to compete with other recognized creators and pros. It has a loose and less restrictive set of rules and requirements and receives considerably more leniency on time and content.Bauzi wrote: I´m pissed on. No wonder that you don´t have enough entrys

There are four other events, including another AMV contest that does not have this requirement to enter.
Also bear in mind that the time limit is not a hard and fast rule, but a general guideline. While ten minutes is too long for the Fans' Exhibition, a video that runs over by 30-60 seconds is not going to be disqualified for length as long as it is not trying to flagrantly disobey the rules.
This was originally not in the first set of rules for 2007, but was specifically requested/suggested by creators both at the convention and on this forum board during our feedback sessions.Already grant with this requirement high quality amvs at the show -.-'Minimum Required Score: 63 / 105 **
The Experts' Exhibition contestant's entries receive more time as a right of passage for proven success and recognition by their peers. If you believe that you should be accepted as a qualified applicant to the Experts Exhibition, please feel free to contact me directly at vse@a-kon.com and we can discuss it.yeah hurray. I apologize that you are unhappy with the rules posted for this year, but ten minutes is a long video and when the time allotment for the Fans' Exhibition question was posed in an open feedback forum last year, this was the result of those discussions.
Like last year, I will start a feedback post when the convention is over and this item can be brought up again for review. If you feel strongly that this should change I urge you to participate in the feedback discussions that are offered both at the convention (if you will be there) or on the boards when they are posted. Every year we re-evaluate the rules and processes to try to improve each event. It's possible with enough community support and feedback that the time restriction on the Fans' Exhibition can be lengthened.

Ah... I guess it will take 8 minutes and I don´t really want to cut down the storyline with taking out a segment. There is too much work in it for ripping it apart into pieces. Also bear in mind that the time limit is not a hard and fast rule, but a general guideline. While ten minutes is too long for the Fans' Exhibition, a video that runs over by 30-60 seconds is not going to be disqualified for length as long as it is not trying to flagrantly disobey the rules.
Well one part would fit as a stand alone amv, but I´m not sure if I should cut it out and send it in.
That´s a pretty nice turn from you: ThxThe Experts' Exhibition contestant's entries receive more time as a right of passage for proven success and recognition by their peers. Maybe I´ll do it. The problem with the most of my videos is the content. There are so many contests that are PG16 or a "family event" as they often say. So I can´t really send the amv in and also I don´t want it to show to little kids, you know?
Now I have an amv that is at least PG16 and that is much more longer than 6 minutes. There aren´t many contests were I can enter.
So I´m anoyed for personal reasons at all.
I´ll post that again. There is still something that makes me feel fishy. If you feel strongly that this should change I urge you to participate in the feedback discussions that are offered both at the convention (if you will be there) or on the boards when they are posted.
