"Home" Made contests?
I have a 56k dial-up connection that don't go more fast that 1kb/s and so It is nearly impossible for me to upload videos for online contests, and I also live in Italy so I also can't go giving DVDs or CDs, so I have a question in mind..! Besides of the VCA, a-m-v.org or single members never made (or do/will do) contests where the way you show the video is trough simply linking the video from here?

Actually as I recall there's one Italian editor who mails CDs to cons (at least, she did at AB '04 since FTP submissions weren't allowed)
If you watch this forum you'll find that plenty of people hold their own 'contests', but they're not really a big deal and people don't put too much stock into them.

Well so let's see you want to create a home made contest but your on a 56K and you cannot give out DVD's and CD's. I really do not understand but if your going to have a home made contest. The best thing you can do is do it locally in your area. But if you want to have people from other countries submit videos to you. Your best bet would be to get a dedicated server they go at around 49 dollars here in the U.S. With your Dial up account you can control this server. Since it's yours it's like having a computer you own but on a OC-12 connection. So you redirect all traffic to there. Then just call them for hard CD copies of it and they would ship it to you for a low fee.
Or if you are trying to submit a video to a contest and can't because of laws within your country. You can try copying your video to a CD. Then go to a friends house or public terminal with a fast connection and upload your video that way.
