ARCHON 29 AMV CONTEST - Official announcement and rules!

I've posted this before, but now I am posting this to make it official. The board at Archon has approved the AMV contest. It WILL be happening! All that's left is the support of the AMV editors in the form of submitting entries to the contest.

This is very exciting, and I am proud to be heading the St. Louis areas first AMV contest! (Since the one at Kunicon didn't happen. Haha! Burn on Kunicon!

) Everything is ready, the contest will probably be on October 1st at the Gateway Convention Center in Collinsville, Illinois. Prizes are pending, but I'm gonna try to get some cool stuff, such as anime DVDs, manga, CD Soundtracks, etc... for prizes. I'd love to have something cool as the grand prize, like a plaque, but I have to wait and see what kind of funding we can get from the con staff for that sort of stuff.

So in any case, please consider competing in this contest! It costs nothing, you don't even have to attend the con (Though it's highly reccomended if you can, since Archon's such a blast!), and most importantly, your videos will be shown to a bunch of people.

So far there's not much interest.. 40 hits on the thread, no replies, no emails from anyone... I mean, the contest is a while away, but if you're at least interested in it, please let me know! I need to find out how much interest there is in the contest for the Archon board members.

So speak up and let me know what ya think? I'd hate to have October roll around and have to be like "Well, we have 3 vids submitted, so there's not much we can do... " ya know?

Over a month has passed since I posted this, so I thought I'd post here with a status update. So far, there's no submissions to the contest yet. However, a few people have said they might be interested in entering videos.

As a reminder to those who are unsure of whether or not to enter, here's some thing's to think about:

1. The video you enter can be entered in other cons as well, that's OK. For example, you coudl enter the same vid to this contest as the AWA contest.
2. You do NOT have to attend Archon to enter! We'd love for you to be there, but it's not required!
3. Anyone can enter, no matter what level of skill, and still have a chance at winning in a certain class or category. Since the vids are devided into three classes, you'll be competing with those who are close to your level of editing skill.

Please look over the rules page and email me to submit a video!

I hope to have a vid or two done for AWA, as long as it's ok with this con to send the same stuff, no reason why I can't pitch an extra disc or two in the mail.

(assuming no new vid made between the end of AWA submisson and this ones)

I sent an email to you like the info page said to do, but it was returned beacuse the address did not exist. This was a link->outlook kinda thing, so i know i didn't type anything incorrectly... could this be the problem with your lack of video submissions?

Crap, my email WAS down for a short time.. I forgot to post my alternate email.

My email works now! Or so I thought... Damn it! I called them and told them to relink my email!

Yeah, I just checked, the SBCGlobal account is gone.. AGAIN! Despite the fact that the dumb tech support guy (IN INDIA! NOT THE USA, INDIA!) told me that he'd get the account re-linked. That was ages ago, still nothing. No wonder I've not been recieving any email at all.

Anyway, you can email me at garylisk@yahoo.com for now, but I *WILL* be getting on SBC's ass and threatening to switch to cable internet if they keep this up. And they don't want to lose me as a customer.. I have phone, internet, and cell phones through them.

AMV creators are known procrastinators. People don't tend to submit so early because they will/may have newer and better stuff by then.
