Okay, I am hoping that the subject line didn't freak anybody out or make you think that it's starting already, because it isn't. Not quite ready as of yet. However, I do think that it is time to start gauging interest and getting an idea of how many people are interested in joining this year. Right now I am planning on doing a 24 player bracket (or, 3 brackets of 8.), but if there is enough people that say they are definitely going to enter, I may go for a 32 person bracket (4 brackets of 8.)
ALSO! This year, I want to have AT LEAST one other match coordinator at the beginning of Round 1. Because, if we do 24 people, thats 22 matches (29 matches for a 32 person bracket), and for the last tournament, I found it hard to be here for just 15 matches. After Round 1, I asked Devolution to be a match coordinator, and that helped out immensely, but it would be really nice to have somebody from the start. Now keep in mind, if you sign up to be a match coordinator, you can't be a competitor in the tournament :-\
Also, this time around, I think I would like to have 2-3 people to help me select songs for each match. Last time, I selected all of the songs myself, and for the most part, it worked fairly well (though some people I'm sure would say otherwise). So this time around, I'd like to bring in a few people to send me song suggestions. Once again though, if you choose to be a song suggestor, you can't compete in the tournament.

So essentially, you have 3 categories to choose from:
Competitor - You know that you want to be a part of the tournament and inserted into the brackets.
Match Coordinator - You are willing to coordinate matches when I am unavailable. You would need to be able to be around for the entire length of the persons match. Somebody with a fairly open and flexible schedule would be good for this position.
Song Suggester - Wants to help choose the songs for the tournament ahead of time. People with a fairly WIDE and varied taste in music would suit this position best. Last tournament, every song that was used, had never been used in a video on the org, and I would like to keep it that way. So, if you're musical tastes run as far as stuff that's on the radio, or simply as far as one single genre (like for example, people that are only into metal or hip hop and not much else) need not apply.
Keep in mind there is nothing wrong with being a Match Coordinator AND a Song Suggester.

As far as judges go, I am going to be inviting back the judges from the previous tournament. If they decide that they'd rather compete or just not be involved at all, I will then make a call for judges. Keep in mind that I hold this position in very high regard, so it will be by invitation only (meaning, just because you say you want to be one, doesn't mean you will be one. I suppose the same could be said for the Non-Competitor jobs).
If you are interested to know, I am not planning on changing up the rules too much. Might make a few tweaks here and there, but any and all changes will be stated clearly when I make the post for competitors to sign up, so you'll know what you'll be getting into before you sign up.
And while on the topic of rules, I am curious to know if anyone that was involved with the previous tournament had any problems or complaints with any of the rules that they would like to see changed for v2.0. I am always open to suggestions.

Once again, let me restate for the record. This thread is ONLY for gauging interest! By replying to this thread and expressing interest, you are NOT reserving a place in the brackets. That thread will come later on. However, I WILL keep track of who replies to this thread and send PM's out to those who expressed interest to let them know when I will be posting the thread to officially enter the tournament. Keep in mind that the brackets will be filled on a First Come First Serve basis. So once all the spots are full, that is it.
Anyways, I had a really wonderful time during the last tournament. It was a much bigger success than I had anticipated. When I originally posted the idea, I thought I might get enough people to do like a little 8 person tournament. It ended up being a really fun ride for everybody involved, and it produced many very high calibur AMV's. Overall, it was just about having a good time and having friendly competition with your fellow AMV friends.
So now that I've rambled on for quite a while, please share your thoughts
