Anime Charlotte Iron Chef Competition [TENTATIVE]

Post by greenjinjo » Sun Aug 22, 2004 10:43 am

Well for those of you who've seen my other thread, then you know what this is about. For those of you who haven't, read this first to get a feel for what may be going on.

I'm possibly thinking about starting an Iron Chef contest at the convention, making this a two-day convention which may attract more attention.

The convention would be in early June, 2005 in Charlotte, NC.

Right now I'm just seeing who'd be interested in participating in a 16-person Iron Chef contest on the Friday of the convention, and then having the actual AMV Contest Saturday. It would be Bring Your Own Computer but obviously the DVDs and Music would be supplied.

If you'd be interested, let me know by posting here. YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATING YOURSELF IF YOU POST HERE :D I'm just trying to see if it even be possible to get 16 people interested in this.

Thanks!

That sort of an event would bore an audience beyond tears.
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."

What, the iron chef contest or the AMV contest itself?

The iron chef contest.

At other cons that have had (and patented) the iron chef contest the audience are generally treated to some sort of gameshow-like entertainment whilst the editors actually edit in the room because there is no fun to be had in watching someone edit.

I had recommended we set up a free arcade room (since it's gonna only be maybe at MAX 500 people) and such for while the Iron Chef competition is going on.

Definitly a movie room too, and some other fun stuff just to keep them busy while iron chef was happening.

Well, ok. How about in the main video room then anime episode showings, fan dubs, and/or AMV panels are taking place?

On a related note, how do conventions go about getting permission for showing anime DVDs?
