32 videos were shown. The first showing was last night, and a second showing took place this morning. Winners will be announced tonight, in about 30 minutes from the time of this post.

There was a noticeable problem with the videos' playback - the contest was shown from a single DVD, and the DVD slowly desynchronized more and more as the contest went on, so much so that not a single cue in the last video appeared to have been synchronized at all.

Drum roll.... and the winners are:

Novice: Animescopes by kayko4578
Journeyman: Dueling Videos: Under Ice by Scintilla
Master & Best Action: Y.A.B.V by Jbone
Best Drama: Utena video by Alberto Gonzales (sorry, can't remember the title :P)

It was a nice contest in the overall. Congratulations to all the winners!

According to the video info, kayko4578 didn't actually do that video; s/he's just hosting it by proxy for a friend.

Congrats to all the winners, and can't wait for next year when Anime Boston won't have to worry about capping attendance. :)

I thought Songbird21 would snag some of the awards with her good stuff. Ah well.

TaranT had a Porco Rosso video, and Tom the Fish had two videos (No Need To Feel Down and another FLCL vid I can't remember)

Hmm, Tom winning Best Comedy and Best in Show. Sounds familiar...

In any case, congrats to ALL the finalists AND all the winners.

Also, there were TWO, count'm, TWO Iron Chef events between myself and OtakuForLife:

Round One (late Friday night)
Song: The Pillows - Hybrid Rainbow
DOKool: Teknolize Vol 1
OFL: Kino's Journey Vol 1

Winner: OFL by a margin of .4 (Note: These were both purchased the same day in the dealer's room. OFL watched his disc once beforehand, I didn't watch mine at all)

Round Two (Sunday afternoon)
Song: Bjork - Hunter
DOKool: Azumanga Daioh Episode 1
OFL: Abenobashi Episode 11 (first episode on Disc 4)

Winner: DOKool by a margin of 1.3 (Note: Neither of us had seen the shows at all)

For something that was thrown together in a matter of hours, both events were damned fun, and next year we hope to do it right! Check out the AMV Announcements section for our vids soon...

Main Events was *FULL* on both Friday Night and Saturday Morning.

As far as the problem with the DVD synching, that was a problem with the DVD itself, in my opinion. At the Behind the AMVs Panel, Patrick said that it was most likely a problem with the mixing board. Which would make sense, except that the delay was VERY much present in the videos off the AB2004 disc that were shown.
