Calling all AMV editors – join the Shenanicon AMV Showcase and show off your talent, creativity, storytelling skills, and overall masterclass over the craft! Submitted videos will be shown during the Shenanicon AMV Showcase and voted on by our attendees for Best In Show! If you are interested in submitting AMVs for showing in our showcase, take a look at the rules below and fill out an application.
AMV Showcase applications will be open from Wednesday, March 13th, 2024 until Wednesday, May 1st, 2024.
Prior to applying, please make sure to read the following policies:
- AMVs may be submitted to one of the following categories: Action/Adventure, Drama/Serious, Romance/Sentimental, Upbeat/Dance, Comedy/Parody.
- Entries may be no shorter than 1 minute and no longer than 6 minutes.
- As this is a 21+ convention, entries may be, but do not need to be family friendly. Entries may be PG-13 or 18+/NSFW. Please select the proper rating for the video as, if entries allow, the contest may be split up based on age rating. Shenanicon reserves the right to change the rating of the submission if deemed necessary.
- At least 75% of an entry’s video content must consist of anime, manga, or video game derived content.
- At least 75% of an entry’s audio content must be derived from music; this rule does not apply to videos that are trailers/parody.
- Attendance at Shenanicon is not required for showcase entry.
- Entries from Shenanicon staff/volunteers are not allowed.
- Entries shall be free of watermarks, credits, bumpers, or information that is not directly related to the video content. Parody watermarks and bumpers are allowed if completely created by the editor. Entries shall not include a title screen or lead in/out bumpers.
- Entries shall not contain subtitles that have not been created and added by the editor.
- Entries shall be MP4 encoded with x264/h264 codec and should be in 1080p resolution/29.97 fps format.
- All video editing and concepts must have been made/designed/added by the entrant.
- Each entrant is allowed to submit up to one (1) submission per category and up to four (4) submissions in total for the showcase. Entries from multi-editor collaborations are allowed but will count as one submission for each member of the collaboration.
- Submissions will only be accepted via our file upload section of the form or via downloadable link (ie Google Drive, Box, Dropbox, etc.). Links to YouTube or similar video service are not allowed.
- By submitting an entry, entrants agree that they have read, understand, and will comply with all official rules and consent to their AMV, name, and information to be used for the purposes of the promotion and execution of the Shenanicon AMV Showcase. By submitting an entry, entrants additionally grant Shenanicon the rights to show the entry at Shenanicon 2024 and all future Shenanicon and DerpyCon run events.
- Submission of a AMV entry is a proposal. Shenanicon reserves the right to not choose your AMV for the convention.
Please submit a separate application for each AMV that you are interested in submitting.
Do note – this is not a first-come, first-accepted system. We will review all applications equally and fairly once applications have closed and will select from the list of applications for the scheduled showcase time. Not all AMVs will be shown during the showcase and may be moved to overflow or other showcases, as deemed necessary by the AMV Review Team.
