Submissions open! Deadline December 2nd, 2022.

Rules are in Finnish, but basic Google Translate cliffnotes:
You can participate in the competition with a video made by one or more editors, whose visual media originates from an East Asian source. Allowed media sources include anime, Manga and East Asian animations, cartoons, video games, drama/fictional TV series and fictional films. Combining media types (e.g. anime and live action in the same video) is allowed. The video's audio material (music, dialogue, sound effects) has no source country restrictions.

In addition to the traditional AMV, you can participate with e.g. a MMV (manga music video) from a Korean manwha, a GMV (game music video) from a Chinese game or even a fan video from a Hong Kong drama series. You cannot participate in the competition with e.g. a video of a US commercial or a European reality show.

The allowed video length is 1-5 minutes. At least 60% of the video must be from the media sources defined in the rules, but you can also use e.g. images, video clips, your own animation, backgrounds, etc., regardless of the source country and material. At least 50% of the audio content of the video must be music, but the use of dialogue, sound effects and other audio clips is also allowed.

The video should not contain additional logos, watermarks or subtitles from e.g. opening credits or recordings of TV broadcasts/streaming services. You can add your own subtitles to the videos, e.g. for the dialogue or as a power tool for the lyrics of the song.

Videos that have not participated in the finals of any Finnish event are allowed in the competition. New videos, competition videos that didn't pass pre-qualification before, or videos shown in programs like the AMV show organized without judges' awards are allowed. The video does not have to be unprecedented, but it is recommended to share it e.g. on YouTube only after the competition.

Use the best quality material available. The recommended file format is MP4 and the resolution is 1920x1080. The minimum accepted resolution is 480x360.

Mature or heavy themes (e.g. sexuality, violence, death, horror) are allowed, but please avoid using K-18 material. Pornography, extreme violence, jumpscares or gore are not accepted in the race.

You can submit a maximum of 2 videos to the competition. Videos made in cooperation between several authors are counted as one video for each author. So you can participate, for example, with one video you made yourself and one collaborative project.

The spouses or close family members (sibling, parent, child) of the AMV representative or the jury are not allowed to participate in the competition.
Send your videos here.
Participate by sending your video and optional attachments via this link: https://xfer.velhosto.fi/

Enter the transfer code "frost23" without quotation marks and follow the instructions on the page.

Please name your file in the format Yourname_Videoname.mp4. Please remember to add the names and e-mails of all video creators to the information. The contest closes on Friday 2 December. at 23:59.
Awards
Judges' Choice, ranks 1-3
The overall most impressive video will be awarded, so it's the so-called best in show category. The video is visually and technically skillfully realized, the image and audio work seamlessly together, the video is inventive and the possible character dynamics, the description of the milieu and the use of additional effects are excellent.

Best storytelling
The video successfully tells a story that is conveyed to the viewer in a clear and memorable way. The story of the character(s) can be different: funny, scary, hopeful or fiery. The story can also completely differ from what the original source tells and be constructed by the editor himself. The most important thing is that the story is conveyed effectively through the cooperation of video and audio.

The best atmosphere
A video that causes a strong emotional reaction can be full of action, minimalistic melancholy, refreshingly humorous or a touching love story. The award-winning video holds its grip from beginning to end and creates an atmosphere with versatile film and audio methods.

Special awards

Audience Choice
Viewers of the AMV competition can vote for their favorite video during the competition with their smartphones. The voting link will be distributed to the public during the competition.

Order of awards: Jury's Favorite 1, 2 and 3, followed by Best Storytelling and Best Atmosphere, which are of equal value, then Audience Favorite.
